We take after our mothers. The first to help and the last to ask for it. And when we do, we get crickets. I have never been as exhausted as I am today. That hasn’t stopped people from asking for favors of every kind. That ends today. This weekend? I can’t pick your child up. I can’t babysit. We can’t give you any money. We can’t stop by. You can’t come over. The answer is no. I don’t want to even call it self-care, but at some point we have to stop letting ourselves suffer while everyone else takes and takes and takes. Because when the bottom falls out, who is going to help us?
So, this weekend. I will be resting with my family. I will finally comb my hair and look presentable for a change. A we won’t be taking care of anyone else until we feel like it.
