Unless you live in Miami, there is a good chance you are dealing with this ungodly, cold weather this winter. With temperatures these low, it’s easy for a nasty cold or flu to take over the entire household. School delays and cancellations make it easy for everyone to spread germs to the entire family. Here are some tips to stay healthy this season.


  1. Cover your mouth: A best practice for coughs and sneezes is to put your face in your elbow. This lessens the risk of spreading germs via your hands.


  1. Keep your nose clean: A stuffy nose is never fun. Those who suffer from allergies are already familiar with this habit. We go through Kleenex like nobody’s business. A quick trip to Walmart makes it easy to keep these on hand. 
  2. Wash your hands: It seems like common sense that we always wash our hands. But during this season, it’s especially important to wash our hands after coughing and sneezing. Also, when dealing with other sick people, it’s good to keep hand sanitizer on deck too!
  3. Spray and wipe down toys with disinfectant spray: When the boys are sick, they typically stay home until they are better. I like to spray their toys down and wipe them off for good measure. No repeat sickness in this house!
